My name is Mireille. No idea how to pronounce that? No worries, you are not alone hahah, just call me Mira. My name is a bit unusual because I am from The Netherlands. Which is actually partly the reason why I founded Flow in Birth. I grew up thinking that birth is normal and natural, and something to be excited about. I want you to feel that too!
I gave birth to my daughter in early 2022. During my pregnancy I got very into researching the process of labour and birth. I started this journey because I was curious about the view on pregnancy, birth and postpartum in Australia. I noticed that the care given was very different than in my home country and I was surprised and scared about the high rate of interventions.
I realised I had to get informed about the birth process so I could trust my body and baby to do what they were designed for, including learning many relaxation techniques to help during surges and birth efficiently. Also, I knew I had to build my knowledge around birth so I could have a proper conversation with my caregivers. During my research I found ‘The Positive Birth Program’ by Hypnobirthing Australia™ and it was exactly what I needed.
I would not have had the positive and beautiful birth I envisioned, if I wasn’t educated. I was able to make informed decisions and do what was right for me and my family. Knowledge is power! So regardless of how and where your birth unfolds, I promise you can feel excited and confident about birthing your baby.
